CHI's statement in response to the Spending Review

Centre for Homelessness Impact

The Centre for Homelessness Impact issued the following statement this afternoon following Chancellor Rishi Sunak’s Spending Review announcement that an additional £254 million will be available for the next financial year to improve outcomes for people who are homeless.

“We are glad to see the emphasis on evaluation in the Spending Review, which will help harness the power of data and evidence to get better results for people experiencing homelessness, their families, and communities,” CHI’s CEO Dr Lígia Teixeira said.

“As an organisation whose mission it is to improve the lives of people who are homeless or at risk through better use of reliable evidence on what works, we see measures like the setting up of the new Evaluation Task Force as a big step forward for the government’s commitment to evidence-based policy-making in this area.

We will continue in our role – as a member of the What Works Network of 13 independent centres – to help governments at local and national levels across the UK derive maximum value for every pound spent as we work towards ending homelessness for good.”
