Public meets private sector: Uniting during the COVID-19 crisis

Centre for Homelessness Impact

To meet the unprecedented challenges faced by the homelessness sector at the start of the COVID-19 crisis, partnerships between the public and private sector have rapidly formed. In  London, and elsewhere, people sleeping rough were given hotel rooms in which they can self-isolate, the result of a partnership with the Mayor Sadiq Khan’s team, the Greater London Authority (GLA) and the Intercontinental Hotels Group. Working closely together, they are contributing to the recovery effort in London. In this talk our CEO Dr Lígia Teixeira speaks with Karan Khanna, Managing Director, UK&I for InterContinental Hotels Group, and Jonathan Qureshi, Senior Project Officer, Greater London Authority, about the successes and challenges of “checking in” under COVID-19 and what the longer term plan is.
